Resurrection begins my continuing work about the Ziegler Expedition—and my story re-envisioning it. I combine maps of Franz Josef Land, quotes from the explorers, and photographs from their expedition with images from my own journey to the arctic in 1998. The result is sixteen 54”h X 47”w panels of unique monoprint and intaglio plates printed on fragile Asian papers. The installation title refers to my ongoing efforts to make public and bring deserved recognition to the virtually unknown photographic and film work of the spiritual and intrepid expedition commander, Anthony Fiala.
